Can You Own Two Homes With A VA Loan?

Are you able to own two different homes with a VA loan? A VA loan is a mortgage loan guaranteed by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. This program is exclusive to American Veterans, and current military members. A VA loan is very appealing since its purpose is to aid veterans in purchasing a home with no down payment.

This is something that is frequently asked within the mortgage industry. Simply put, the answer is maybe. VA only allows you to use the VA loan on one home at a time. You can sell the home that has the VA loan, or refinance it into a non-VA loan, but you are only allowed to have one VA loan outstanding. You can use your benefits multiple times, but you can only have one loan at a time. There are some limited exceptions to these rules but very hard to meet those requirements.
